    “This property's appeal is based massively on its location, and consequent wonderful views.”


    All rooms on the seaward-facing rear of the house look out across Newton's Cove, Portland Harbour and beyond. We loved this view, which was wonderful in any weather. The house's location gives immediate access, via the rear wooden gate, to Newton's Cove, a quieter, more relaxing alternative to the busy Old Harbour and the rest of Weymouth, although both were easily reached on foot from Belmont. The ease of access (albeit up and down steep steps) meant that far more of the holiday was spent down on the shore, rockpooling and beachcombing on the shingle. There are two outside terraced seating areas, with a brick barbecue. Unfortunately the house is somewhat let down by the rather unkempt appearance of this area. Some brickwork is badly cracked, with at least one completely detached brick on the ground. The outside just needs tidying up, and the attention of a builder for a couple of days. Internally, the house was very comfortable, with plenty of seating for our party of six. The bedrooms were spacious, with very comfortable beds, and the bathrooms were clean with effective showers. However, we discovered early on that the lock on the main bathroom door was liable to jam in the locked position, and that the door to the downstairs bathroom could not be locked, or even latched. These are obviously really fundamental issues which require early attention. We didn't want our holiday interrupted by a locksmith, and so made our own amusing arrangements. One other area which deserves comment is the car parking arrangement. This involves a double garage which is two or three minutes walk away. The property description states that the garage roller shutter door is "temperamental". A garage door does not in fact have a mind of its own, and this one is simply unreliable and requires repair or maintenance which, for whatever reason, hasn't been carried out. Trying to regard a garage door as simply being temperamental when you've spent five minutes in the rain trying to close it is guaranteed to wipe the smile off your face. All in all, Belmont is a property which we very much enjoyed staying in, but one which requires a little attention in certain key areas to make for a trouble-free stay.

The property

Belmont is a holiday home with the most beautiful panoramic views of Newton's Cove, Weymouth.

This small pebbly beach is favoured by locals and especially children who love to explore the rock pools.

There are lovely coastal walks along to the old Nothe Fort and harbour.

On the ground floor is a well laid out kitchen, with dining and sitting room, although you to sit and relax and take in the sea views.

On the first floor is are two bedrooms the master bedroom allows you to sit and take in further views of Newton’s Cove.

A further two bedrooms are on the second floor.

Also take advantage of sitting in the enclosed tiered garden with views out to sea.

he picturesque harbour is five minutes' walk away where you can watch the boats as they glide to and fro across the harbour and try your hand at fishing or crabbing from the quayside.

Weymouth's golden sands with their shallow waters are about a ten minute walk from the cottage.

Why not take a drive along the coastal road to the market town of Bridport where a market spans three streets on a Wednesday and Saturday throughout the year in Bridport.

Maybe stopping in West Bay and walking along the end section of Chesil Beach.

The views, location, spacious rooms and parking are all benefits of staying at Belmont.

It is situated in a pedestrian only lane close to the waters edge, making it the ideal quiet break at any time for the year.

Brewers Quay is the old Victorian brewery situated at the heart of the harbour, in Weymouth, Dorset. Much of the grade II listed complex and surrounding brewery buildings date from the late 1800 early 1900’s and many have stones inlaid commemorating their construction year. This area is now a popular destination with many restaurants, café and bars, creating a vibrant culture, where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. Tucked away down the harbourside streets, you will find original Tudor harbour buildings, estimated to have been built in 1600 and well worth a visit, with a very interesting history to share. You will also find the Weymouth Museum, with some incredible exhibitions, and the harbour is also home to the lifting bridge, where you can watch the luxury yachts head out to sea, and then walk over the bridge to the town's winding streets of boutique shops and the seafront esplanade and beach. There is more to this seaside town than meets the eye; Brewers Quay is a much-loved holiday destination in Weymouth!
