“We enjoyed our holiday on Portland very much, and the cottage was ideally placed for regular (car) trips to Portland Bill, and a very short (but steep) walk brings you to the beautiful Church Ope cove and the old “pirates” tombs, complete with skull & crossbones!”
We had virtually no noise to endure, so it was very peaceful. Parking wasn’t as easy as we’d expected, but we always found a spot within 50 yards, occasionally being able to park right outside. The cottage itself was beautiful, it had everything we needed. Our only problem was the O2 signal didn’t work in some rooms, but I did overhear two local birdwatchers saying that their O2 signals had become quite poor recently, so probably a temporary local issue and nothing to do with the cottage at all.
Portland is nicely positioned for trips out both East toward Poole and the Isle of Purbeck, and West toward Lyme Regis and Devon. We enjoyed a trip to Brownsea Island in Poole harbour - a lovely place. Also enjoyed seeing the Little Terns at Ferrybridge.
To sum up the holiday and the cottage in a few words - “we loved it so much we booked for next year as soon as we arrived home!”
