  • “The cottage was lovely and the owner has supplied a lot of information, however some information was lacking, 1, there appeared to be an ironing board but no iron , i may have missed where it was located in the book but could not find it.”

2, the double bed was not the most comfortable thing, i never slept through 1 single night. and finally 3, the parking space is very tight - they had put a guide in the book inside the property which was not good as i scratched my van trying to park it - why dont you inform people that it is tight and on a hill. so pre warned i would have walked down the hill and checked out the space, your pictures make the space look roomy (probably a fish eye lens) but it is quite tight and you are clearly ...

We take on board your comments and thank you for your helpful and formative feedback as we do genuinely strive to provide the very best holiday experience for all our guests. The iron is kept, with laundry tablets and clothes pegs, in the laundry cabinet in the garden room, adjacent to the washing machine, (where items are safely out of reach of small children.) We will ensure that this information is in the guest folder. Beds tend to be suited to personal preferences, and we are sorry, despite the double bed being fitted with a new top-quality pocket sprung mattress, that you found it uncomfortable. We do include a strategic plan for ease of parking in our guest folder. Driving into the parking spaces in Artist Row in a big vehicle is quite straightforward, but when reversing out, keeping over to the left side of the drive usually makes exiting easier for some. Portland is full of narrow streets, built before cars! Owner relations

The property

Unicorn is situated on the Isle of Portland, within sight and sound of the acclaimed Chesil Beach.

A traditional style terraced house, with glimpses of the sea and thoughtfully refurbished by the current owners, this charming holiday cottage has a sunny kitchen sun room and views up to the Olympic Rings on the top of Portland perfect for sitting with your morning coffee and contemplating the day.

After a full day of exploring relax in the spacious and yet cosy sitting room with it’s electric wood burner.

With two showers there won’t be a que in the morning for the bathroom.

Leaving the cottage, walk through the lanes down to the beach and here you may choose to fish, beachcomb or just enjoy the wonderful scenery.

Sunsets from Chesil beach are often spectacular and not to be missed.

Having viewed a glorious sunset then why not try The Cove House Inn or Quiddles, recommended by previous guests for dining, and nestled next to the Chesil beach.

Just a short walk away from Unicorn are a supermarket, pubs and shops and around a 15-minute walk away is The National Sailing Academy, making Unicorn a perfect base for water sports enthusiasts.

To explore Portland take the South West Coastal Path which leads you all around the exterior of the island taking in the rugged landscape, old quarries and famous Portland Bill Lighthouse.

The nearby town of Weymouth, just a short bus or car journey away welcomes guests with a long and sandy beach, traditional beach entertainments and a vibrant town centre.

So you can be assured of an exciting holiday filled with adventures.

Don’t forget Dorchester, the county town is only 14 miles away and if stunning coastal scenes are your desire then you have the Portland to West Bay road for incredible views and places to see.

Unicorn is perfect for a couple, or friends who enjoy walking, or a small family.
