“We thoroughly enjoyed our two week holiday at Jurassica House again.”

It is a very clean, comfortable and well equipped house, within walking distance of Chesil Beach, marina, cafés, pubs and shops. There are spectacular views of Chesil Beach, Ferry Bridge, Fleet Lagoon and amazing sunsets from the balcony. We are looking forward to returning again later this summer.

The property

An imposing four-storey holiday home, resting on the scenic Isle of Portland, Jurassica House makes a wonderful base for all kinds of adventurers looking to escape to Dorset.

Once home to the Swedish sailing team in 2012 during the Olympic sailing events, this historic abode is wonderfully suited to friends and families seeking an action-packed retreat in Fortuneswell or to simply kick back and relax in a beautiful location.

The property boasts a quirky layout internally, with the kitchen/diner resting on the first floor where you can enjoy preparing all your family-favourite meals, in the company of your loved ones.

The dining area opens up onto your own enclosed garden and patio, so you can make the most of the coastal breeze as you dine alfresco-style in the summer months.

Moving up to the second floor you will find the spacious sitting room, offering far-reaching views of Chesil Beach, The Fleet and Weymouth Bay.

The view from here is absolutely stunning and there's no better place to sit and watch the sunset while unwinding each evening in the plush seating arrangement.

The four beautifully-presented bedrooms can be found across the four floors, each room offering welcoming white linens to snuggle down in each evening and a homely interior with ample storage space for your personal belongings; take your pick from a ground-floor twin, a first-floor super-king-size, a second-floor twin or the master third-floor super-king-size boasting its own en-suite shower room, dressing room and balcony overlooking the excitement of Chesil Beach.

Again, the view from this top floor balcony whilst the sun sets is simply breathtaking.

The location of the property is perfect for those seeking outdoor adventure with the beach being just a short stroll away.

You can find vast opportunities for trying out a new watersport, with the International Marina and the National Sailing Academy nearby offering activities such as kite surfing, sailing, paddle-boarding, diving and windsurfing, as well as all of the convenient amenities of shops, pubs and restaurants being within walking distance in the village of Fortuneswell.

More wonderful leisure facilities can be found at the end of the road in Castletown, home to the Osprey Leisure Centre, here you will find an indoor swimming pool, gym, squash courts and much more.

Enjoy scenic walks around the historic Isle of Portland, its iconic red and white striped Portland Bill lighthouse sitting at the top, where you will find a selection of restaurants and cafés to indulge in after a day of exploring the rare butterflies and birds only seen here!

Spend a day in the quaint Georgian seaside town of Weymouth, accessed by either car or small boat ferry from Castletown to its picturesque harbour, here you will be greeted by a traditional seaside atmosphere, with sandy beaches, Punch and Judy shows, donkey rides, fish and chips and ice cream parlours, a fun-filled day out for all the family.

Make the most of the wonderful shopping experiences in Weymouth to pick up that special souvenir to take back home, before returning to the wonder of Jurassica House to soak in your spectacular Dorset scenery once more.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
