“The cottage was perfect for Christmas and we had a lovely time in a very quaint farm cottage, with incredible scenery and wonderful walks.”

We particularly enjoyed the real fire although it is important to buy kindling, logs are supplied and very plentiful. Everything we needed was there in way of crockery and utensils, luckily my daughter who had previously visited one of the other holiday homes at the farm, had warned us toilet rolls and bin bags would be in short supply, especially when shops would be closed for Christmas. Which is a fair way to travel anyway. So we had taken extra. Also the owner allowed us an extra hour to check out, to which we were very grateful. For 5 to get showered, packed up (we had a lot for Xmas) and clean the house as requested is very tight. We did also feel 5pm is very late to check in, in winter when it is very dark although the cottage was left very welcoming, lit up and with wine and biscuits, thank you. It was also beautifully decorated for Christmas. It is a very dark area though and unfamiliar if a first visit so recommend a torch. The description should be amended to say the Elm Tree public house is temporarily closed. We had booked a Christmas meal there and, unfortunately and very disappointingly, informed it was closed just prior to our visit. By this time the cottage was already booked. Hence we took a lot of food. It is very dog friendly and safe in the garden. The cottage heating was on timer and perfect for us. Just a note to be careful of the stairs. We didn’t find the games room, but there are a couple of games in the house and please note there is a key safe on both back and front door with the same code, not just the front door which was confusing on arrival. So maybe the description should be amended to reflect all of the above.
