“We had a great family holiday at 'Overland' celebrating a 70th birthday.”
The cottage was excellent, a good size for a party of nine and very well equipped. Situated in a lovely scenic Dorset village with good views all round. Only slight downside could have had some rugs in property to give a warmer cosy feel, apart from that an excellent choice and would return again.

“The freezer was much smaller than we thought.”
We found that the cooker oven was not very powerful for the number of people we were cooking for. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom worked very well for our daughter who has some physical disabilities. That said, we had a wonderful break in a lovely house. Beautiful views and area - we particularly loved Lyme Regis. All in all a very relaxing break in a great location.- Chris, October 2021
“We really enjoyed our stay at Overlands.”
The house is situated within walking distance of Burton Bradstock village centre and not too far to the beach. We were not aware there were 2 staircases before we arrived, but this didn’t affect our stay too much. We were blessed with great weather so we we’re able to use the garden all week, and the owners were really helpful in finding us extra space to park.- John, September 2021
“Such a beautiful, well equipped cottage in the most spectacular location.”
Hive beach was only a quick walk away and so many other fab beaches and towns in short driving distance. We had the best week!- Molly, July 2021
“The house is well equipped and comfortable and with great views.”
We did dub it 'the Narrow House' as it is built on a narrow sloping plot and doors and staircases are correspondingly narrow and the lay-out, with two staircases, is quirky. But you could say it all adds to the charm.- Nigel, April 2021
“Very large property.”
Appreciated text from owner telling us property was ready for us. Felt confident adequate cleaning had taken place regarding covid risks. Everything looked very new. As in many rental properties, easy access to sockets for bedside phone charging could be easier. Took a long time to find keys for French window and front door but then felt silly that had not noticed the key hooks under the stairs. Automatic lights were good. Overall very pleased with our choice of property. Thank you.- Richard, September 2020
“Perfect family holiday home.”
Plenty of room for our family group of seven adults and a toddler. Large travel cot, high chair and stair gates provided and plenty of kitchen equipment. Good quality bedding and towels. Will definitely return.- Julie, July 2020
“Great house for exploring the Jurassic Coast.”- Steven, July 2020
“We thoroughly enjoyed our second holiday at Overland - just one point we would like to suggest is a larger fridge in the kitchen!”
For a party of 10 holidaymakers the present fridge is rather small.- Gwynn, February 2020
“A spacious and well equipped property in a beautiful location.”
Ideal accommodation for a three generation holiday.- Edward, August 2019
“Overall we liked the property but there were a few things that we felt would make it more comfortable for visitors.”
As a family group we felt that the fridge freezer was too small. Also there were not enough seats for everyone to sit in comfort in the lounge although there was plenty of space for them. I am aware that people like differing types of bed but all of the adults in our group felt the mattresses were too hard. As there was only the en-suite bathroom up one staircase it really does need to be a close family group to use these rooms. The house was light and spacious with a decent garden, a lovely dining area and kitchen (though a bit more work surface & cupboard space would have been a bonus), and a nice lounge with pleasant balcony. I would say it is quite a noisy house with hard flooring throughout the upstairs, staircases and passages and stable type door latches which cannot be opened quietly. A few rugs upstairs or carpeted staircases would reduce the noise. We were impressed that the owners had properly implemented local recycling facilities and proper containers were provided. The house is in a lovely village with plenty of places to visit locally- David, July 2019
“We really enjoyed our holiday.”
Very well equipped cottage in great location. Good for a group, walking holiday. Lots of lovely walks from the door. Two nice pubs to walk to, both serve great food.- Antony, June 2019
“Overland is lovely and matched our needs superbly.”
There was plenty of space for our party of 10, which included 2 children under three years. The kitchen was very well equipped and enabled us to cater for meals easily. The garden is lovely and allowed the children to let off steam safely. Maybe another couple of chairs in the sitting room would be a nice idea. The countryside and coastline is absolutely stunning. Thank you.- Jenny, May 2019
“What an amazing house in a beautiful area, for a large family gathering.”
Superbly equipped with everything you could possibly need. We will be back!- Gwynn, February 2019
“Absolutely loved Overland.”
Loads of space for all the family but cosy too. Local pub just down the end of the road and the owners left some Christmas treats. Lovely touch.- Helen, December 2018
“Great place to stay and everything was available in the house would go there again Thank your hosts”- Victor, October 2018
“We had a wonderful family holiday in this well equipped and very comfortable house.”
There was a lot of room for the 9 of us and the children loved the garden.- Susan, September 2018
“We had a restful holiday in Overland, with plenty of room both indoors and outside.”
The kitchen was well equipped so we didn't have to eat out all the time. The house was a real haven after a day on the beach or a long walk along the coast.- Anne, August 2018
“Lovely cottage to stay in and very clean.”
Owners are friendly and helpful with local knowledge- Geoff, July 2018
“Was an ideal spacious house for our family with ages ranging from one to seventy two.”
Accomodation, facilities, garden, equpment were all superb. The owners seemed to have thought of every eventuality. The only slight negative was that we had the impression that we would be very close / walking distance to pubs & the shop in Burton Bradstock. We felt walking there would have been a bit dangerous, especially with babies in buggies, due to the narrow winding nature of the road & the lack of any kind of pavement, so we felt we always needed a car & tended to go into nearby Bridport. We had a lovely week at Overland & would definitely recommend it to others- Yvonne, July 2018
“Overland was the perfect base for a holiday.”
The beach at Burton Bradstock is just over a mile away and it’s only a short drive to Bridport, West Bay and Lyme Regis. The cottage was lovely- spotlessly clean, comfortable and very well equipped. Perfect for a large family.- Sherry, May 2018
“We really enjoyed our holiday and the property was excellent, our two 90 year old mums enjoyed it too.”- Pamela, May 2018
“Fabulous setting with sea views - great area to explore.”- Gail, May 2018
“Lovely home in a great location, much better in real life than on the pictures.”
Lots of users friendly facilities. Would certainly go again.- Janet, March 2018
