“Woodlanders is a charming cottage in a lovely village with a view of Colmers hill from the property.”
There is a pub just down the lane (good food) and a fabulous cafe and farm shop, great for fresh bread & croissants. The standard of cleanliness in the cottage was superb and the accommodation was really well equipped. The owners supplied lots of information about the local area, walks, places to visit, shop and eat which we found very helpful. Symondsbury is in a convenient location for getting around the area and there are plenty of beaches and walks within an easy drive and some walks direct from the cottage.- Susan, June 2021
“Loved the location & the cottage was very well furnished & well equipped.”
The small backyard is very nice & sheltered. The only criticism is the mattress on the double bed is very uncomfortable- Irene, June 2021
Close to the beach and Bridport. In the beautiful village of Symondsbury, with Colmers Hill as a backdrop. Cottage was very comfortable and we would happily go back again.- Claire, May 2021
“This was not the first time we had stayed at the cottage and we have always enjoyed our time there.”
The place is comfortable and well equipped. It is in a good location for access to local facilities and road links for those in the surrounding area.- Carol, April 2021
“Lovely cottage in perfect location in Symondsbury for the local pub and cafe.”
Very quiet lane with parking. Cottage very comfortable and we'll equipped- Sheila, September 2020
“This cottage was lovely and the location was a perfect base for exploring the Dorset coast.”
The cottage itself was clean and well presented and well equipped with everything we needed. The village was quiet and the locals friendly (luckily as one of my children has special needs and absolutely no concept of not talking to strangers!). Having the app was a brilliant idea - very easy to use and everything we needed was there on my phone and meant we did not need to use any of the leaflets in the cottage. We did the recommended circular walk to Colmer's Hill (hint: if you have children there is an easier route only a short way up the road from the cottage and behind some houses - we didn't realise this until the end of the circular walk!) and had a picnic at the top - lovely views! Later in the week we had a meal at the Cafe in the village which was pricey and the menu not really suited to children, but they did love their cheese toasty and chocolate brownies. The cottage was a great location for the Jurassic Coast and we spent several days visiting different beaches and fossil hunting - the ammonite pavement on Monmouth Beach was a trek over boulders and large stones but worth a look! We had a fabulous time and loved the cosy cottage.- Laura, August 2020

We really enjoyed the location, with a pub on the doorstep and great walks to the coast. The village is quaint, with a pub, village shop and café. We had a really enjoyable week here.- David, July 2020
“The cottage was perfect in every way.”
Excellent location, facilities were ideal, very quaint cottage, very clean and very clear instructions from the owners. We had an amazing time, largely thanks to the cottage being so ideal. Would go back.- Steve, July 2020
“Exceptional cottage- spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable and very well appointed.”
It was a real home from home. Symondsbury village itself is totally unspoilt and feels almost like a step back in time, yet so close to amazing Jurassic coast with outstanding walks on your doorstep. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend this beautiful cottage. This is self catering at it’s very best! Can’t wait to return! Sally and John Price, Barnehurst, Kent- John, October 2019
“Woodlanders is charming and comfortable cottage in a rural village.”
It is spotlessly clean, well-equipped and perfectly suitable for couples or small families. It also provides an ideal base for exploring the county. Nearby Bridport offers a range of shops, while places of interest, such as Chesil Beach, Lyme Regis, Charmouth and Corfe Castle are all within easy driving distance. There are any number of country pubs in the vicinity, offering real ale and good home-cooked food, and the cafe on the Symondsbury Estate provides an outstanding Farmers Breakfast. We had a wonderfully relaxing holiday and would recommend the cottage and the area.- Nigel, September 2019

Everything needed for our stay was provided. Would certainly recommend this to friends and family.- Don, September 2019

The whole process was really very very easy - I would highly recommend.- Adam, September 2019
“We, a family of two adults and two teenagers, loved staying here.”
We found it cosy, spacious and homely. Netflix and a nespresso machine were delighful hidden extras. The village is most pleasant, with Colmers Hill, a beautiful church and a lovely and friendly pub/restaurant literally yards away.- Tommy, August 2019

“We both enjoyed our very comfortable stay in this lovely cottage in the pretty village of Symondsbury close to the Jurassic Heritage Coast.”
Although compact, this cosy cottage seemed extremely well and thoughtfully equipped compared with some other Sykes cottages we have stayed at with a similar rating. It was great that the owner was in touch with us by email prior to the stay providing additional details on directions etc and a copy of the cottage Welcome pack summary to prepare us for our visit. She also updated us with local events taking place at the time of our visit. As a frequent user of Sykes for our holiday cottage requirements, we find their website good to use and they have a good selection of cottages to book. However we do suffer a bit from a deluge of emails from them about further bookings (including asking us to take a look again at and book cottages we have only just booked!). Whilst Sykes send an email with certain further general information on the area once you have booked, we did not find it particularly useful.- Jim, May 2019
