“We had such a great relaxing week at Hideaway House.”

A very warm welcome from Sue and David and a nice welcome hamper to get our holiday started. The House is beautiful with two big comfy bedrooms and a very large kitchen and living room. The hot tub is one of the best we have tried and we made us of it every day. The house is very well located but is very quiet. We can't wait to visit again.

“This is a really special place to stay.”

The treehouse is tremendous and was an instant hit with my children for both playing and sleeping in. It's very well constructed and makes you feel like you're in an Enid Blyton story. The hot tub was spotlessly clean and it was great to relax in it at the end of the day. The accommodation was really clean, bright, and spacious with loads of room for our family of 4. We loved the decor and the beautiful high-end finish - it's clear a lot of effort has been made to make this a great place to stay. The hosts were really kind, welcoming, and on hand for anything we needed. We'd definitely book again in the future.

“The hideaway house is a fantastic place to go for a relaxing break.”

The facilities are excellent, with lots of little details that make you feel very welcome (welcome basket and card, pillow treats). The actual cottage is very well equipped with everything that is needed and of a high quality. We loved the quirky details in the decor. Our 1st experience of using an Aga which was great. The hot tub was very popular with all the family and the Bluetooth speakers were a great feature. The treehouse was incredible, amazing construction and well furnished to make a cosy additional bedroom. Our teenage girls enjoyed the night they spent there away from the house and found the mattress and bedding to be very comfortable, everything had been thought of. Our dog had fun meeting the owners pack and being given the freedom to roam the gardens, she was also made to feel welcome with treats and a good collection of bowls, blankets, bags in case any had been forgotten. The owners could not have been more accommodating, really friendly, helpful and not intrusive even though the cottage is attached to the main property. We found the location itself to be fine as a base to explore with Taunton and all that offers a short drive away. Some minor additions would make this cottage even better …. a coffee machine and radio in the kitchen, the hot-tub topped up and treated daily. If there are small children staying then I would think a guard would be needed around the Aga as it is always hot. Overall we had a brilliant stay and would love to return again. Thank you.

The property

The living areas in the single-storey main house consist of a kitchen/diner with an AGA range cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, woodburning stove, dining for ten people overall, and a sitting room with a woodburning stove and a TV, along with a snug hosting an electric fire in the treehouse.

There is a pool house with a shower room.

The bedrooms consist of two super-king-sizes, one of which hosts zip/linked beds; both feature en-suite shower rooms.

There is a mezzanine double in the treehouse.

Outside, the treehouse has a furnished balcony, and there is an enclosed rear garden with lawned area, gravelled area, patio, barbecue, hot tub and furniture, along with private parking for eight cars.

Within 1.9 miles, you'll find a shop, and within 0.6, a pub.

Please note that one well-behaved dog is allowed, but smoking is not accepted.

WiFi, fuel, power, starter packs for the woodburning stoves, bed linen and towels are all included in the cost.

The county town of Somerset, Taunton is a beautiful town and a perfect cottage holiday destination. The town has excellent buildings with charming stone and Tudor architecture, there is also fascinating history in the town stretching back over 1000 years including a 10th century monastery. It offers wonderful amenities with the Orchard Shopping Centre and plenty of other places to shop and eat. As well as this, Taunton boasts a choice of museums and parks, one of which has held the Taunton Flower Show for over 150 years. For your outdoor enthusiasts, the Quantock and Blackdown Hills Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty are easily accessible, as well as the Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks slightly further afield. If a day by the sea is what you're after, the coast is around 20 miles away, with the popular seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare a further 10 miles away but is well worth the journey with its great range of activities.
