The impressive coastline has over 185 million years of history and provides a unique insight into the UK\u2019s prehistoric heritage. It is this cultural significance that put the Jurassic Coast on the\u00a0UNESCO World Heritage\u00a0<\/strong>list.<\/p>\n

Consistently measuring higher than 650,000 Scoville units, the chilli pepper comes under the same bracket as the\u00a0Carolina Reaper\u00a0<\/strong>and the\u00a0Ghost Pepper.<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you can get past the heat of the\u00a0Dorset Naga,<\/strong>\u00a0the chilli has a fruity aroma that can change the depth of flavour. However, if you are going to cook with this fiery chilli, be careful, remove the seeds and wear gloves whilst chopping.<\/p>\n

Fact 5 – The Birthplace of a Tongue Twister<\/h2>\n

Mary Anning\u00a0<\/strong>was born in\u00a0Lyme Regis<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0in 1799. She would wander down to the beach with her dog\u00a0Tray<\/strong>\u00a0and sell fossils to upper and middle-class visitors.<\/p>\n

Some of the fossils found by\u00a0Mary<\/strong>\u00a0helped to lead the way in the discovery of prehistoric dinosaurs. One of her notable discoveries was a giant\u00a0Plesiosaurus\u00a0<\/strong>in 1823. The discovery was widely accepted after some opposition, leading to a huge scientific discovery.<\/p>\n

She continued to make groundbreaking discoveries for the remainder of her life and left a lasting impression on the renowned scientist\u00a0Charles Darwin.<\/strong>\u00a0You can still see some of these impressive specimens in\u00a0London\u2019s Museum of Natural History.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Over the years, many authors and scientists paid homage to\u00a0Mary Anning’s<\/strong>\u00a0life. Most notably,\u00a0Terry Sullivan\u00a0<\/strong>wrote:<\/p>\n

Fact 6 – Home to the UK\u2019s Largest Natural Harbour<\/h2>\n

In the quiet town of\u00a0Poole,<\/strong>\u00a0the harbour is one of the most impressive natural harbours in the world. In fact, many proclaim it to be the second largest in the world. However, there are a few contenders for that title.<\/p>\n

Uses of the natural harbour date back thousands of years, and in 1964 the remains of a 200-year-old boat were found near\u00a0Brownsea Island.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the medieval period, Poole Harbour was crucial to the trade from countries in Europe. However, it also became a haven for lawless pirates. That was due to old\u00a0Harry Haye.<\/strong><\/p>\n

History would have us believe that\u00a0Harry Haye\u00a0<\/strong>was a pirate for the people. He would often ransack cargo ships heading for France and Spain and bring the goods back to the people of\u00a0Poole.<\/strong>\u00a0He was a legend to\u00a0Poole\u00a0<\/strong>residents and a pirate to the victims.<\/p>\n
