{"id":35429,"date":"2018-08-31T16:14:40","date_gmt":"2018-08-31T15:14:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dream-cottages.co.uk\/?p=35429"},"modified":"2022-05-26T13:25:45","modified_gmt":"2022-05-26T12:25:45","slug":"have-you-been-to-the-ghost-village-of-tynham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dream-cottages.co.uk\/blog\/have-you-been-to-the-ghost-village-of-tynham\/","title":{"rendered":"Have you been to the ghost village of Tynham?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">Our Sales and marketing Director Joy recently spent the day at Tynham Village, a fascinating place with a very interesting history\u2026.<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">The lost village of Tynham<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Set in the north east of Warborrow Bay on the Jurassic Coast, this little village lies in a secluded valley nestled in the Purbeck Hills.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The mysterious location is locally known as the \u2018ghost village\u2019 as it has sat empty for over 60 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">During World War II, Tynham Village was requisitioned by the British Army for use as a firing and training base. The villagers gave up the home for the war effort, and it has stood uninhabited ever since. Leaving behind a place where time has stood still.
