A trip to Arne Nature Reserve

The weather has been amazing recently so I’ve been out and about exploring parts of Dorset I haven’t been to for years. My partner and I headed over to Arne Nature Reserve on a sunny Sunday evening. This rural village in near Corfe Castle at the end of a no through road. The RSPB look after the Nature Reserve (and do a fantastic job) and they have loads of events but I can’t remember the last time I went to the beach.

Parking is easy and reasonable (free I think if you are a member) and there are plenty of maps to help you pick a trail. We headed off in the direction of the beach which is about 3km away from the car park.

You walk through a farm, woods and heathland. We spotted a family of deer on the way back and you can walk over to the bird spotters hut and just take in the view across to Poole Harbour.

When we arrived at the beach I had forgotten how gorgeous it is. The whitest sand I’ve ever seen in the UK and I felt like I was abroad.

The views across to Brownsea Island and Poole harbour are stunning.

There were only a handful of people on the beach so it was really relaxing and even a bit romantic!

I will be definitely be heading back soon, this time armed with a BBQ and a good book to spend the day there… who knows if the sun keeps his hat on maybe this weekend!
