Unicorn is situated on the Isle of Portland, within sight and sound of the acclaimed Chesil Beach.  A traditional style terraced house, with glimpses of the sea and recently refurbished by the current owners, this charming holiday cottage has a sunny kitchen / breakfast room and views up to the Olympic Rings on the top of Portland. Leaving the cottage, walk through the lanes down to the beach and here you may choose to fish, beachcomb or just enjoy the wonderful scenery. Sunsets from Chesil beach are often spectacular and not to be missed. Having viewed a glorious sunset then why not try The Cove House Inn or Quiddles, recommended by previous guests for dining, and nestled next to the Chesil beach. Just a short walk away from Unicorn are a supermarket, pubs and shops and around a 15 minute walk away is The National Sailing Academy, making Unicorn a perfect base for water sports enthusiasts.   To explore Portland take the South West Coastal Path which leads you all around the exterior of the island taking in the rugged landscape, old quarries and famous Portland Bill Lighthouse.   The nearby town of Weymouth, just a short bus or car journey away welcomes guests with a long and sandy beach, traditional beach entertainments and a vibrant town centre

Mrs K Craven
Having stayed in various cottages from Dream Cottages, Unicorn cottage was the cleanest. The decor and facilities were excellent and I would definitely recommend it to anyone, and also Dream Cottages as a holiday letting company. Stayed September 2017.

Mr J Pridmore
Lovely, comfortable house on the delightful isle of Portland. Close to shop, pub, beach, Indian, Chinese, chippie and excellent walks. What more does one need? Stayed August 2017

It is the second Dream Cottage that we have stayed in and as before we found the property to be Excellent, It was lovely and clean and had every thing that we needed! It was full of local Information which we found very useful as we had not been to Portland before. We would Highly recommend this property to 2 adult couples like us, or it would also be ideal for a family! 10 out of 10 for everything. Thank you and we look forward to booking another Dream Cottage soon. Stayed July 2017

About the Location

Portland is a wonderful holiday destination. It offers arguably the best sailing and windsurfing waters in the world, an abundance of rare wildlife since Portland is a major migrating point for birds, miles of stunning coastal walks, great fishing trips straight from Portland Marina, beautiful beaches, some of which are dog friendly all year around, fantastic pubs and some of the best cream teas in Dorset.

Meander through the pretty villages filled with old stone cottages, cobbled streets, traditional shops and cafes and stop for cream tea and lashings of luscious cake. The main village of Portland is Easton, which sits on the plateau. Then there is Fortuneswell, which lies on a steep hill and was described by Thomas Hardy as being ‘houses above houses, one man’s doorstep rising behind his neighbour’s chimney’. Southwell is another charming village, filled with quaint quarrymen cottages and a village pub in the heart of the village. Park here to access the glorious cliff walks along the South West Coastal Path.
