Just a few moments away from Chesil Cove Cottage is the beautiful expanse of Chesil beach which is part of the Jurassic Coastline - England's first natural world heritage site.  Enjoy the view from the beach, which stretches out to the horizon. Nearby is the Cove Inn which has a terrace overlooking the beach and Quiddles, just along the esplanade which serves fresh seafood.  If you are feeling particularly energetic you may pick up the South West Coastal Path which runs right around the island.  Following the route, you will pass stone quarries, where the traditional Portland stone, used in iconic buildings such as St Paul's cathedral has been excavated.  At the top of the Island, the famous Portland Bill light house can be viewed and there are couple of restaurants / cafes serving refreshments.  The Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy is nearby and is a level twenty minute walk or few minutes' drive away.  Inside Chesil Cove Cottage, a traditional fisherman's abode, you will find a contemporary interior with comfortable lounge and two bath / shower rooms.   Externally there is an enclosed courtyard to the front where you may sit to enjoy the sea air.  Local shops are located conveniently a five minute stroll away.  Nearby Weymouth, a main seaside resort with a long sandy beach and good shopping selections is a short drive or bus ride away.
